Ice Cream Guessing Game

One night while watching television a few months ago, Rick Moonen’s RM Seafood restaurant was featured on a show called Extreme Vegas. But it wasn’t being featured for its abundance of fresh seafood; it was for their dessert, called Rick’s Tasting Game. The premise of the game is quite simple. You are served 16 sample-sized scoops of ice creams and sorbets, along with a sheet of paper on which you try to identify the flavours. Apparently if you guess all the answers correct, then you receive the dish for free.

We decided to head out to RM Seafood after our dinner at Le Cirque, to kill some time since we don’t gamble. It was an interesting experience for us to try to guess them all, and how did we do? We failed miserably only getting just over half of them correctly. It is more difficult then it seemed, since some of the scoops were single flavours like orange, while others were a combination of flavours. One that we felt a little cheated on was later identified as Nutella ice cream, which we guessed chocolate and hazelnut.

We also ordered their Dessert Sampler, which includes an Irish Chocolate Tart, a Huckleberry Crème Brulee, a Pineapple Upside-Down Cake, and finally a slice of Key Lime Pie. I must say that the desserts were rather good. A little sweet for my taste, but then I am all about savoury dishes.

The restaurant seemed lively and I must say that though I was disappointed at our guessing performance, it was worth the challenge and worth the try.
