Food, we all need it to survive. Some simply adhere to that but I am glad that in Vancouver there are so many of us that love great food. I believe it is our passion for food that inspires great chefs and home cooks alike to create wonderful dishes and amazing meals. Plus with an abundance of fresh local ingredients, and multi-ethnic influences, I believe that our restaurants in Vancouver are some of the best in the world.
Vancouver hosts many food events, and I for one try to attend them all. But the largest one has to be the EAT! Vancouver Food + Cooking Festival. This year they have decided to go even bigger. Aside from the main Food and Cooking Festival at BC Place, they have several Hands-on Workshops and a Dinner Series.
The Dinner Series definitely interested me, as they have created a unique dining experience where one local chef partners up with one from out-of-town to create a wonderful meal. I wish I could attend them all, but so far I have purchased tickets to two of the dinner, one at Maenam and one at Tojo’s. Perhaps I will book a third one as the Michael Caballo and Tobey Nemeth paired with Joel Watanabe at Bao Bei looks like it will be a great evening.
Some of the dinners are sold out but there are still limited tickets available. Perhaps I will see you at Maenam, Bao Bei or the Canadian Flavours Gala? Which ever of the dinners you choose, I am certain you will enjoy the unique partnerships of chefs.
